Successful Conclusion of the Summer Hackathon in Udine
22. 7. 2024
The Summer Hackathon in Udine has come to a successful conclusion, with 19 students from the University of Udine participating in the event. The students came from various fields of study, including Computer Science, Marketing, Design, and Law, forming five working groups. Notably, one-third of the participants continued working through the night, showcasing their dedication and commitment to their projects.
During the event, each group presented a 5/10-minute pitch, sharing their innovative ideas aimed at fostering collaboration between universities and businesses, under the initiative called Lab Village. The teams broke down the main challenge into smaller problems, generating numerous original ideas. The top three groups were particularly impressive:
Know: This group proposed an AI-powered platform designed to simplify scientific content, making it more accessible to the public. This solution addresses a significant gap and has the potential to enhance public understanding of scientific research.
NordEst Smart Lab: Securing the second position, Nodest introduced a research data management system that identifies researchers and matches them with specific businesses, facilitating targeted collaboration.
conNEST: Taking third place, Connest envisioned a platform that organizes an annual event similar to an expo, creating opportunities for interaction between the academic and business worlds.
Adriano Biason, the event organizer, expressed his admiration for the students: "I was very impressed by the enthusiasm and determination of these undergraduate and postgraduate students. They not only came up with proposals for institutions, integrating their knowledge and skills effectively, but they also expressed a desire to continue their projects, potentially leading to the creation of a true university spin-off. I am pleasantly surprised by the entrepreneurial spirit and teamwork demonstrated by this generation. I conclude this event with great satisfaction and hope that we can engage our students in future challenges."
The Hackathon was a resounding success, highlighting the innovative potential and entrepreneurial spirit of the students. The event not only fostered creativity and collaboration but also provided a platform for students to transform their ideas into actionable projects.
The Hackathon took place at the University of Udine, organized by the university along with Polo Tecnologico Alto Adriatico and in collaboration with Talent Garden Pordenone, thanks to the partnership in the iNEST and REGINNA 4.0 projects.
